Introducing the 2024-25 ACP Global Engagement Committee

The ACP Global Engagement Committee recognizes the diverse professional needs of the global internal medicine community, while upholding the values of ACP as the professional home for internal medicine physicians and trainees, and recommend approaches for the College to grow, inspire, and engage its members.

Message from the Global Engagement Committee Chair

Our current healthcare environment, marked by rapid technological advancements, evolving disease patterns, and unprecedented global interconnectedness, underscores the fundamental necessity of global communication, collaboration, and engagement. The ACP's Global Engagement Committee (GEC) unites a diverse group of internal medicine physicians and staff worldwide, creating a powerful platform for sharing knowledge, best practices, and innovations. The commitment by GEC members to global engagement is truly commendable. Through knowledge exchange, enhanced medical education, improved patient care, respect, understanding, and compassion among diverse cultures, and the promotion of global health equity, we aim to foster a more connected, informed, and resilient global health community. This collaborative approach fosters a sense of solidarity, belonging, and shared purpose among internal medicine physicians, benefiting individual physicians and their patients while advancing the medical field and the well-being of populations worldwide. The ACP's dedication to inclusivity, equity, patient-centered care, and systems that promote professional fulfillment and well-being plays a vital role in cultivating this global community of physicians who are better equipped to respond to global health emergencies and challenges. This collective resilience is essential for addressing both current and future health threats, ensuring that the global population is better protected and cared for.

If you would like to connect with global members or other areas of interest, ACP offers forums dedicated to various communities of physicians. Access the Global Forum or other community forums at (must be a logged in member to view).

It is a privilege to chair the Global Engagement Committee and I am grateful to the ACP and the GEC staff and members.
