Pain Management Learning Series

This interactive training series consists of 7 core modules and 2 sets of case studies.

  • Recognize indications for therapeutic exercise, physical modalities, and manual therapy to alleviate pain.
  • Recognize indications for behavioral and mind-body therapies to alleviate pain.
  • Counsel patients about the indications and limitations of pain management approaches that have a less robust evidence base but are frequently used by patients.
  • Identify the role of local injection or dry needling for patients with refractory pain.
  • Engage patients in productive and evidence-based risk-benefit discussions regarding incorporation of complementary and alternative medicine into a personalized, conventional pain management plan.
  • Partner with patients to select treatment modalities for a multimodal approach that is best suited to their pain type, functional goals, and self-management plan.

The 2024 rerelease of ACP's modules within the Pain Management Learning Series includes updated information and provides additional learning and credit earning opportunity for learners who claimed credit for earlier versions.
